DON'T JUST HEAR THE WORD, EXPERIENCE IT

Psalm 106:13 (NIV)
“But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his counsel.”

In a previous post, I wrote about experiencing the realities of God by putting His Word to work. Today, I want to remind you that it is possible to forget all that God has done when faced with the challenges of the present.

This was what happened to the Israelites. These were people who had witnessed God's power in different dimensions, yet, when confronted with difficulties, they became grumpy, discontented, and overwhelmed by doubt.

And as I reflected on their experience, I began to look inward. In what areas have I doubted God despite having heard testimonies of His faithfulness in those very areas? How often have I allowed the challenges before me to overshadow the things He has done in the past?

Sometimes, the problem is not that God has never come through for us; it is that, in the face of present difficulties, we have forgotten how He came through before.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see instances where God instructed the Israelites to preserve the remembrance of His mighty works. These reminders were not meant for them alone but also for generations to come, so that they would know and remember the works of the Lord.

There is wisdom in keeping a record of God's faithfulness.

Have you experienced God in a particular way? Have you seen Him come through for you in a situation you thought was impossible? Have you witnessed His provision, received an answer to prayer, or experienced His peace in the middle of a storm?

Write it down in a journal.

Pick it up frequently and read through those experiences again. Remind yourself of His goodness, His faithfulness, and His marvellous works.

When the challenges of today threaten to make you forget His faithfulness yesterday, return to the records of what He has done. Let those testimonies remind your heart that the God who was faithful then has not changed.

Do not allow the troubles of the present to erase the testimonies of the past.

Remember what He has done. Recount His faithfulness. Let your heart be strengthened by the remembrance of His mighty works.

And when the next challenge comes, may you remember His faithfulness, trust His counsel, and wait patiently for Him rather than surrendering to doubt.

He has done great things. Don't forget them. ❤️
