The Church: Jesus' Bride (Pt 1)
So, we have this rule in our church, and the church doesn't fail to remind us through our Sunday School Dept as it is always written at the back of our yearly Sunday school manual and the rule is quite simple... Don't discuss the flaws of men of God with your kids at home!
Some of us can not talk down on elders; we can't even dare talk ill against our pastors or any Spiritual leader. Do you know why?
Our parents hold their pastors in high esteem; they talk about God and the church in reverence... We were raised in an atmosphere of honor and awe... Some things were considered hallow and there was sanctity even in our conversations.
But I can't say the same for everyone... The moment you listen to the news and you hear a pastor has done something wrong, what comes out of your mouth?
I know you're discussing with your partner but you're so engrossed in the conversation that you don't know your little boy is there listening and watching... You respect your pastor in church but when you get home, you say something else... What kind of children do you think you're raising?
Can we please do better... A generation that boldly abuses the fathers learned it either subtly or clearly from the generation before...
There are better things to discuss with our wards... See what we are instructed to do in Deut.
Deut.6.7 - You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise.
Instead of backbiting in their Presence, we would channel that energy into something more productive.
Raising the next generation is an intentional effort and collaborative effort. We owe God this!
Remember, if you sow the wind, you'll reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7)
