Dear friend,

Please give me a few moments as I share something with you about time and chance.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:11:
"...the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."

It is often said that being prepared helps you to maximize opportunity when it comes.

But there is something we don't often talk about.

It is not Time or Chance. It is Time and Chance.

Time without chance is useless. You can be in your season, you can be ready, you can be gifted — but if the opportunity does not come, then frustration will.

And chance without time is dangerous. An opportunity can come, a door can open, a country can look greener — but if it is not your time, that chance can destroy what you were trying to save.

We see this with Elimelech in Ruth 1.

There was famine in Bethlehem, so Elimelech took Naomi and his two sons and japa-ed to Moab. Moab was the chance. It had food. It looked like the perfect opportunity.

But it was a chance taken outside of God's time.

And in that same Moab, Elimelech died. His two sons died. Naomi came back empty and said in Ruth 1:20, "Call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me."

This is the mistake many make today with JAPA.

They see the chance, but they don't discern the time.
They move because the door is open, not because God said move.

Some people left and flourished, because for them, time and chance met.
Some people left and lost everything, because they only had chance — but not time.

So before you move, don't just ask, "Is this a good opportunity?"
Ask, "Is this the right time for this opportunity?"

Because in the Kingdom, it is never just time. It is never just chance.
It is Time and Chance.

Selah.
